Historical Tours
Few destinations share Bedford County, Pennsylvania’s number of covered bridges. There are 14 in all, most built a century ago almost entirely by hand. The historic bridges range in length from the 56-foot Palo Alto Bridge, to the 136-foot Herline Bridge. Most are Burr-truss bridges designed by Theodore Burr; held in place by a set of trusses that interact with an arch that spans the length on each side, the structure allows for a longer bridge. Take a drive through covered bridge country and enjoy the timeless delights of these beautiful works of craftsmanship. Learn more.
